Best eye exam I ever had. Doctor Ratner explained EVERYTHING. Staff helpful and courteous. Tried on dozens of frames and they told me the truth about how they looked on me. 1000's of frames to choose from. Would always recommend Optometric Express when anyone asks. Can't go wrong here!! You will love the place. IN the heart of Mission Valley in the Ralph's center right off Friars and the 163. Dr. Ratner really knows his contact lens business also.

Their customer service is pretty tight. They got it locked down. One time I got the wrong brand of contacts, and me is stupid right? So I try them, jus to see if it'll work, an it don't. Contacts too tight, squeeze my eyeball like girl that gots you in check. So they replace 'em free with my usual and took the opened set back. I call my contacts order in and its good all the time, well except the issue above, but that was fixed with a capital FXD. I just explained the issue, and they helped me out. Word. Dr Ratner is on point, explained questions, helpful. He knows to select the right contacts for you. I had the Accuve Oasys, they work. For disposables he h00ked it up with the Accu 1-day. Rocks. And the staff helped me out wit my contacts, I'm all fumble fingers, but they me set up. The staff is helpful, get to your order quick. Also the contacts are reasonable prices. And when I wanted a prescription they h00ked it up also. The dog's pretty chill, so it's all good. My last eye joint in OC was cool but they'd have these Yorkie dogs owned by the head manager and they would bark and chase after you and bite your a55, it was funny. Also the eyeglasses they have are stylin'. Would recommend them; they're really great. They came recommended from me by a relative, and its all good.
Pros: Doc knows the deal, Jamba juice across the street,
Cons: watch out for crazy / amped / CA drivers / no drivingest in rain CA drivers

twitchgal: I am manager of OPtometric Express. I would like to express my dismay and apologies for what you perceived as an "unfriendly" staff. We pride ourselves on our friendliness and have patients that actually tell us our office is one of the friendliest they have ever been to. I am glad that you liked our very competent doctor, Dr. Ratner, as he is very well known in the community. Also, there is only one dog that comes to the office. If there were others in the office it was probaby because many of our patients bring their dogs in to play with ours. Again, if there is anything we can do to rectify your unsatisfactory experience with our staff, just let us know. Sincerely, OPtometric Express

Very impressed with Dr. Ratner's service and ability to examine patients, but the office is literally a zoo with dogs freely playing and roaming around office. Had to call multiple times to send a perscription for outside pick-up and the receptionists were rude and unhelpful. Would not recommend this office unless you are desperate for a quick appointment.
