Hearty Beach Breakfast

by JesseScott at Citysearch

I come here a lot for breakfast and it's pretty good food.

My only real complaint are the long lines on weekends.

You do get great portions here.

  • Pros: Big Portions
  • Cons: Long Lines

Best Breakfast!!

by xoxo1 at Citysearch

Broken Yolk has the best food! I had the western benedict and it was yummy...especially with the fresh squeezed Orange Juice. My friend had the No Name omelet with the fresh fruit and loved it as well. We will definitely be back!

Worst restaurant in San Diego, Dont go ther eunless you want Dennys for twice the price

by localsandiegohomeowner at Citysearch

I line up the street and have for over 10 years. The broken yolk must be the worst breakfst place I have ever been to. Eat there if you want, most people that eat there are hung over college kids that dont care if they are eating food from the gutter, it probably tastes good anyways to them. Belive me I live around the corner and wish we had a good breakfast place. the Broken yolk is not one of them. I cant wait until one day they tear that place down. go to brueggers across the street if you want barely edible food.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: worst food place in san diego, especially breakfast

poor customer service, Food was adequate

by cannizzaroma at Citysearch

My in-laws took us out to this restaurant in East Lake for my daughters graduation. The overall experience was disappointing but the restaurant has some good points,

The place was extremely crowded so I would say it is a very popular place.

PROS: The menu is diverse for breakfast and lunch. Lots of different kinds of sandwiches. The atmosphere is nice and outside seating is available.

CONS: POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I REPEAT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. We went on June 11, 2008. My inlaws wanted to try a different restaurant and they wanted to treat their granddaughter who graduated that day to lunch.

While waiting for the food, I saw two people who were waiting for their food complain that another party was served before them. The manager did speak to them and I think they got some satisfaction on their complaint. It was not nice to see though.

We waited for our food and when it came out, they did not know what food belonged to who, that is no problem since we can tell them but the server was getting very upset. They came out with incomplete orders, i.e. no french fries with a meal, salad with no croutons and enough salad dressing etc. It was not the fact that they made a mistake, it was their attiutude, they kept ignoring my mother in law for her request on the salad, my daughter had to wait a long time for her missing french fries after telling them many times that she has not gotten them.

To make a long story short, the staff seemed upset at any request that was made and they just had an attiutude that did not make the dining experience as enjoyable as it should have been. Some of the staff were trying to make up for it by being nice and accomodating. The food was pretty good, we all had different things from the menu but nothing to write home about.

Overall, my complaints are trivial, it was just the attitude of the place that got me down. My inlaws who frequent restaurants will not dine there again. Their loss.

Not worth the hype

by jomarkumar423 at Citysearch

So my wife, father and I went to the Broken Yolk Cafe out in Chula Vista on a Sat. morning. The place was packed, though we did get seated quickly which happened to be the only nice part of the whole experience. The omlette we ordered was bland, I had to ask multiple times for my muffin, which didn't taste very good either, and our server showed up maybe every 15 minutes or so. I told her my potatoes were undercooked which she offered to replace, but by that time I just wanted to leave. I was expecting the manager to come out and talk with us about our exp., but they just waved us off. Evidently good customer service is not in these people's vocabulary. Do yourself a favor, and do not bother going here.

  • Pros: quick seating
  • Cons: poor service, poor quality food
