Upscale Chinese restaurant specializes in authentic dim sum and seafood.. In Short
Serving San Diego since 1992, this popular Chinese eatery got an update in 1992 that transformed it from stuffy to casually elegant. The place is jammed with dim sum lovers on weekends when a parade of waitresses walks by with carts full of barbecued pork buns, sesame shrimp balls and potstickers. Specialties include shark-fin soup with ham and vegetables, Peking duck, satay beef, Cantonese-style lobster and honey-walnut shrimp.

Best Food in Town. This is one of best restaurants in town in any restaurant category. The service could be better, however, the food could not get much better. Anyone that says anything different has no clue about food.

Worst Food and Service. This was the worst food and service I have ever had. They bombard you with their trays they push around and they just start giving you food you didn't even ask for. We had to consitantly tell them no thank you, some of them even sounded offended when you rejected their food. The food had either no flavor or too much flavor. Then we ordered a couple of things off the menu that were uterlly disgusting. We always had to track somone down to get us water, silverwear, sugar, our bill etc.... and they were not friendly when they finally came over. They acted like we were putting them off. I would not say we are picky and even one of us works in a restuarant so we have patience but this place was just crazy!

Best Dim-Sum @ Emerald Chinese on Convoy St.. Dim-Sum at Emerald Chinese is simply the best. We are new to San Diego and getting to know the best eat joints. Dim-Sum is our passion. I think our search has ended with discovering Emerald Chinese. We visited this joint on a Thursday about Noon. The service, ambiance were great. Variety of flavors exploded in our mouths as we tried seven different items. We have been warned that the weekends are very-very busy but are looking forward to retuning to this fine establishment and strongly recommend it.

Closest Good DimSum to Temecula!. We go on Sundays at 11am, any earlier and you will have to wait for some of the good stuff on the carts. If you don't see what you want on the carts, tell the waiter what you want. You will get it! The place starts getting crowded after noon, we NEVER have a wait at 11am. There is also a terrific duck and turtle pond in the back. Gorgeous! I look forward to a walk around the pond after stuffing myself with dim sum.

Okay Food, Awful Service, Stressed Environment. Food seems okay, but service was awful. The servers were very rushed and ignored most of our requests. We ordered six plates, which they brought out - one every twenty minutes or so. They brought no waters and offered no refills on the drinks that we had. They are supposed to bring a small dessert after, but brought nothing. As we left, we noticed most of the servers sitting around a little table.

I felt more like a nuisance than a customer. I tipped 10%, but wished I lefted nothing.
