Horrible manager who is rude and dismissive.
The only reason I am even giving them 1 star is because I can NOT give 0 stars. There are LOTS of other Korean restaurants nearby this one. It's on Convoy so there are Japanese and other Asian
restaurants nearby too.
The place has good food. I even went out of my way to get their Soon Dubu (tofu soup), when I live rather far away.
Unfortunately, the manager (tall, skinny man) acted like a chauvinistic pig and was rude and dismissive. Told me there was a "store policy" about substitutions. I've asked and been given substitutions on many, many times before. This "store policy" is NOT written on their menu. I looked on the entire menu. I told them that this store policy is not on the menu. He refused to even discuss it.
He even tried to blame the whole thing on the waitress who took my order (she didn't tell me this either, but at least she was nice.) He even tried to avoid talking to me when I obviously wanted to complain. He literally brushed me off when I told him I'm going on Yelp and their "Talk
Bin" account to complain. He really didn't care.
I told them multiple times today before my food came that I canNOT eat kimchee or other spicy food. I told them repeatedly that it will make me SICK.
On top of that, when my food came, they included the kimchee and spicy pickles or something. I gave it back to the manager and told him this will make me sick. He still refused to give me something else. They have seasoned fish cake in the back. They've given me this in the past instead of kimchee. I would have happily taken 1 thing of fish cake in exchange for 2 spicy dishes. I realize fish cake may be more expensive than kimchee.
I decided if I can't have what I been given many, many other times without ANY issues, I wanted my money back. At least they did give me the money back. there are plenty of other places that serve soon dubu (tofu soup) without any complaint.
On top of that, they are now saying they accept "CASH ONLY". They say it's only on the weekends because they're so busy. hmmm. seems strange to me. And they've always accepted my card before regardless whenever I came in.
I ended up going to Korea House. It was $1 more and not "as you wish", but there service was TOP NOTCH. The hostess went out of her way to make me happy. I saw her do the same thing with other customers in Korea House. Korea House is in the business to make their customers happy. However, I was rather disappointed by Korea House's soup. It's not thick the way I like it. I'm going to try "Convoy Tofu House" or somewhere else next time.…
Best tofu place for MSG lovers and sugar junkies....
Who is to say that it is impossible for a person to stumble upon a place where he is expected to pay mula for a bowl MSG in tofu broth with Bulgogi that tastes like scrapped beef fermented in a bag
of sugar. To top it off, they are served by incompetent and skanky teenagers to truly make it a decade dining experiences?
T.H., I feel very forgiving by giving you one star.…
Great Food. This is one of the few places I highly recommend!! Tofu House is not a very big restaurant and they have very limited parking. Let's talk food. They have a few appetizers, they are all great. I love their hot stone tofu soup, they have a large selection of soup you can order or if you can't make up your mind you can order "As you wish". usually order mine "as you wish" with scallop, oyster, bbq beef, 3 different types of mushroom, green onion & dumpling in mild heat (you can order hot but I warn you...it very hot). It comes with either brown rice (purple color) or regular steamed rice. Also, you get pickle diakon (the yellow stuff), fish cake (the brown stuff), chili zucchini (red sauce with green stuff) and kim chi (red sauce with white and green stuff) on the side. The soup come in bubbling hot and you can an egg or 2 (in a basket on the table). Most people stir that up to cook the egg, however, I love me unstir so I ended up with a soft-boil egg. The taste is out of this world. If soup is not your thing, you should try their prime rib. Their Korean prime rib is very tender and good. You could order that as an appetizer (without rice) or a meal (with rice). You should also try their hot stone. Kind of like their soup, you can put in whatever you want on your hot stone rice. They already include, lettuce, bean spouts, cucumber and bell flower. They give you a big squeezy of sauce which is lightly smokey and a tiny bit spicy. The food comes very quick. Their service is not bad but they made a mistake on my order a few time but they will fix it right for you. Prices range from $8 - $15. Very good food for a very reasonable price. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!…
