Like most people I was hesitant to find a new dentist and schedule an appt... putting it off for years. Upon my first call, I found the receptionist/front desk girl a little off-putting. She didn't seem to understand the questions I was asking and didn't explain things in a friendly manner. I was just trying to figure out what they would do at a first appointment with a new person and how much it would cost. And I was surprised to be told that they wouldn't be doing a cleaning (because they didn't know what type of cleaning I would need and how long it would take, having never seen my mouth) and that the xrays and exam would take two hours. But, I scheduled the appointment anyway. The first day I was there was a busy day and I did have to wait for a good half hour before being seen. But, with the wait, I had the x rays done and the exam all within the two hours they told me. I liked the Dr. and staff (except the girl that does appts.) very much and felt very involved in the care of my teeth. I was told I had two small cavities that would need to be taken care of. And we discussed some cosmetic work that I was thinking about doing. They actually didn't suggest whitening my teeth, they said I have a nice color. Someone added up all the costs for the future cleaning (diagnosed at the first appt/exam), the cavity treatment, and the cosmetic work and retainer that I requested. They did offer a discount for paying in advance which I took and paid. Of course, I could have gone on a payment plan. But it did seem to be required that I pay for everything in advance even though some of the work would be done over 2 month's time. My 2nd appt for cleaning and cavities was fantastic, less wait, friendly, no pain. And I am proceeding with the cosmetic work now. No one likes the dentist. No one likes to spend money on dental work. No one likes to wait. But all in all I am happy so far.
Pros: Local, Friendly, reasonable prices for a non-insurance patient
Cons: no weekend and evening hours

I'll keep this brief. After reading a couple of the previous reviews, i have to comment about my experience with this dental practice.I did read some of the previous comments, and I have to say my experience was quite different. Or maybe, diffferent people interpret things differently. I arrived for my 1st visit, and was presented with paperwork. Upon completion, i had xrays taken, and soon after my exam. Of course there was wait time, while they processed my forms, and my xrays, but I was informed from the beginning that my appt would take about 2 hours, so I expected this time. Once the doctor told me what I needed, he explained everything, and kindly answered all my questions, and asured me my work could be completed in a timely manner. No, I didnt have a cleaning on my 1st visit, but again, I was told that I wouldnt from the beginning. A nice girl went over all of my treatment, and explained how my insurance worked, andwhat I would ave to pay for my treatment. This is where opinions may differ. yes, I was given the option to pay up front, which would entitle me to a discount, but when I told them I couldnt do that, I was given several other options. But imagine you made a reservation at a fine restaurant, or hotel, or surgery. A lot of businesses ask for a deposit ahead of time to ensure your commitment to a reserved time, or place. Why sould a dental office be any different. They are a business after all, with prescious time and other patients to see. Some people feel so entitled to free work these days, and need to realize things arent the way they used to be. I am very happy with this office. My other complaint is the cost of my care. And guess what...That issue is with my insurance plan, not Tierra Town Dental.
Pros: Friendly, informative, good hours, good location, they accept insurance
Cons: No weekend hours

After nearly 3 months of research I decided to visit Terrasanta Family Dental for some dental work. I have been on this website as well as many others to read reviews on dental offices and was a little reluctant to chose them as my primary dentist due to the remarks left by other patients. I usually don't always believe what was left by other reviewers therefore I wanted to check out the office for myself. There are a couple of reasons why I chose TFD. I chose them because one of my friends is a patient there and the office came highly recommended. More importantly they are walking distance from my house. I have to admit that I was a little more critical than usual due to the previous comments and I have to say that this office is world class, the staff was wonderful and accommodating. Dr. Kristian was very professional and took his time with me and explained everything that needed to be performed for my root canal and crown. I had put off this dental visit due to my fear but he assured me that everything was going to be fine. He is the best dentist that I have ever had. I will definitely recommend this office to all of my friends.

This has been the best experience that I've had in a long time. I've recently moved from out of state and was quite nervous about seeing a new dentist since I knew my last dentist since I was a child. But, after meeting the doctors and staff I'm relieved that I chose this office. I 've had a chance to read the other reviews and notice that complainers come a dime a dozen and no one ever gives credit to others when credit is due! At my appointment the doctor listened to my needs and educated me in every aspect. It's hard to find good quality doctors nowadays!
Pros: Quality work with a family atmosphere
Cons: Office not open on weekends

I have never had such an awful experience with an office as with these people. Pay up front, get charged for services not done, get the runaround about a refund. Something shady going on here. AVOID THIS OFFICE.
Pros: NONE
Cons: ALL

This dental office is run by monkeys and robots. They took 4 hours for my first appointment, taking X-rays and telling me how many cavities I had and asking me if I wanted my teeth whitened. Then they proceeded to bring in their money-grabbing robot, that insisted that I agree to pay before getting a filling, and I should get the most expensive filling because I SHOULD, and also, did I want my teeth whitened?? After agreeing to the filling, I actually got a teeth cleaning! This was about hour number 3. Did I want my teeth whitened?? After joining my S.O. in the lobby, she tells me that she never got a cleaning, because she refused the fillings. But she did decide to use this robot-office to get bridge work done the next summer, despite my objections. So, they insist she MUST get the most expensive type of bridge - lava- and she MUST pay for it at the first appointment - not when the bridge was actually created - and it cost $8,000. I called to object, they insisted it was 'monkey office policy' to pay at the start. Fine. The DAY OF the bridge installation, they call 2 hours before the appointment to say that the bridge is too large to be lava - it has to be the next lower type of bridge - and it will take 3 more weeks to create. The upside is there is a 'substantial refund' due to me, because it is the cheaper bridge. How much? They can't say right now, they have to run the numbers. When can I get my refund - since I had to pay upfront before the work was done, my thinking is that it should be easy to process a refund. WRONG. Surprised? 4-8 weeks to get back money that they shouldn't have in the first place. Guess what? Getting the $8,000 together was not instantaneous, even though I had no choice about it. Asking these morons questions is like talking to babies who only know one word - "MONEY". The customer service is atrocious, they could care less about apologies for inconvenience, they are only nice to you when they want money. AVOID THIS OFFICE!
Pros: Close to home
Cons: Everything else you could think of, really.

I recently moved to the San Diego area, and was surprised to find practically a dentist on every corner! When i searched for a preferred dental provider on my insurance plan, I found Tierra Town Dental. When I finally put aside my fear, and called to make my appointment, i was pleased to fnd that they were able to get me in for an exam within the same week. Once I went in and saw the dentist, they quickly scheduled mt to return for my cleaning and the rest of my dental work. They were flexible, and tried to accomodate my work schedule as best they could. My only request which would have given them a perfect 10!!! is if they would offer later evening hours or weekends.
Pros: Friendly staff, convenient location and parking, flexible
Cons: they close at 5 pm, and have no weekends. But, thats it

I was pleasantly surprised, after leaving my former family dentist of 12 years, to find that there are actually other good dentists out there! Who'd have known. like most people i'm sure, I was very hesitant to go to the new dental office, but the staff at Tierra Town Dental was very welcoming. It was a little busy my first visit, but after that, my visits were very pleasant. I saw many happy patients come in and out during my series of visits with them, and a lot of them were happy children too. i would definatley recommend them to my friends and family. A very happy Ms Rosey
Pros: Friendly staff, very nice doctors
Cons: a little busy sometimes in the afternoon, located in a family neighborhood
